Hala Cunningham

Development Coordinator

Before joining This Machine, Hala began her career as an associate and co-creative producer at Soledad O'Brien Productions and Trilogy Productions. During this time, she contributed to several documentary projects exploring various aspects of the Black experience in America. These projects include the HBO series Eyes on the Prize III: We Who Believe in Freedom Cannot Rest, which was nominated for Best Historical & Limited Documentary at the Critics' Choice Documentary Awards. Also Black and Missing, which won the 2022 Film Independent Spirit Award for Best New Non-Scripted.

Subsequently, Hala worked as an Executive Assistant to Documentary Director/Producer R.J. Cutler at This Machine Filmworks. She has since moved into the Development department at This Machine as a Coordinator.

Outside of work, Hala loves a good sewing project and trains for half marathons, with aspirations of (hopefully) completing a full marathon.

Originally from Nyack, New York, Hala holds a BFA in Film from NYU Tisch. She now resides in the beautiful city of Los Angeles, California.
