“Martha,” “Drag Race,” Pee-wee Herman doc among Primetime Emmy nominees

Netflix racked up several unscripted Primetime Emmy nominations after leading last week’s Daytime Emmy noms while the newly rechristened HBO Max has received a leading 142 nods across 20 original programs in all categories for the 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

Elsewhere, other venerable television hits such as RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Traitors, Antiques Roadshow and Top Chef all grabbed multiple nods.

Bio-docs led the documentary categories, with projects including Pee-Wee as Himself, R.J. Cutler’s Netflix Martha Stewart doc Martha (pictured) and Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson’s follow-up to his Oscar-winning 2021 doc Summer of Soul, the Sly Stone film Sly Lives! (aka The Burden Of Black Genius) all earning nominations.

The documentary and unscripted nominees for the 2025 Primetime Emmys are listed below. The winners will be announced via a televised ceremony in Los Angeles on September 14.
